Our Services

  • When it comes to utility installation, the United Utilities team has a proven track record of excellence with municipalities and counties across Alberta. With decades of experience installing water and sewer mains under a wide range of jurisdictions, we collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that nothing is overlooked during project planning and execution.

Maintaining the health and safety of both the public and our workers throughout a main replacement project is our highest priority. That’s why developing a well-structured execution strategy tailored to each unique project is so essential.

While the work itself can pose a variety of technical and logistical challenges, our team has the experience and expertise to anticipate and address these issues well before any ground disturbance occurs.

We firmly believe that the success of every project depends on a knowledgeable and well-informed crew. That’s why we continue to invest heavily in our greatest asset - our people.

  • United Utilities has Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) crews equipped to perform HDPE installations on pipe ranging from 50mm to 600mm in diameter. These crews not only enhance the unmatched experience of our underground teams, but also provide added value to our clients by minimizing disturbance to existing roads and surface structures.

Our HDD crews are capable of completing main installations during winter months and periods of inclement weather. This significantly reduces the risks and costs typically associated with open-cut earthworks in freezing conditions.

If trenchless installation is a feasible option for your next project, we have the tools and equipment necessary to get the job done efficiently.

  • No matter what type of civil project you're planning, earthworks are almost certain to play a role. While United Utilities specializes in water and sewer installations, our crews bring extensive experience in soil management, conditioning, and general earthworks / grading.

Our earthworks managers have the expertise to plan and execute projects of any size. Equipped with top-of-the-line GPS technology and surveying tools, our crews are fully prepared to handle everything from road construction to landfill cell development and capping.

We are proud to offer a full range of civil services and we are excited to collaborate with all levels of government. Our goal is not only to improve existing roads and surfaces, but also to provide innovative solutions that help keep projects on budget.

  • Whether it’s a bridge file replacement for Alberta Transportation or a county road project, United Utilities has the knowledge and equipment to perform both CSP and Structural Plate Culvert installations. With decades of experience working with Alberta Transportation on bridge files, our crews are familiar with the province’s requirements and will sequence the work to ensure minimal impact to local traffic.

The replacement of any existing watercourse crossing can present a number of environmental challenges. We maintain partnerships with several environmental consultants across Alberta and have extensive experience executing ECO Plans, Care of Water Plans, and wildlife assessments.

Our managers and field crews have worked with both DFO and AEP on numerous projects and understand the risks associated with in-stream work. We will proactively mitigate these risks during the project planning phase to ensure our field crews are thoroughly prepared and educated, allowing them to respond quickly to changing conditions.

“United Utilities has demonstrated a high level of professionalism and dedication to the quality of work. It has been a pleasure to work with their team, and I will not hesitate to work with them in the future.”
